March: Appenzeller Huus Bären
Tradition since 1602 in the heart of the Appenzellerland
With a history dating back to 1602, the APPENZELLER HUUS BÄREN is one of the most traditional inns in Switzerland. The 3-star superior hotel is located in Gonten, nestled in the hilly landscape of the Appenzellerland. Following a comprehensive renovation, the traditional knitted house reopened its doors in summer 2020 and has since combined living history with contemporary comfort.
Cosy rooms with character
The HUUS BÄREN has 12 individually designed rooms and suites - from boutique double rooms to the Bären Suite. In some cases, original knitted elements and room heights of 1.80 meters underline the authentic character of the house. Box-spring beds, selected details such as the traditional hay chest at the headboard and Appenzell mineral water in the room combine regionality with comfort.
Relaxation in the BÄREN SPA
The BÄREN SPA with sauna, steam bath and experience showers awaits guests under the roof of the 400-year-old hotel. A traditional Appenzell tiled stove in the relaxation room creates an atmospheric ambience. The spa can be privatized exclusively on request.
Sophisticated fine dining
In the rooms of the BÄRENSTOBE, guests experience upscale fine dining. From Thursday to Saturday, Executive Chef Carsten Kypke creates a tasting menu with four to six courses that combines top regional products with modern influences. The culinary experience is complemented by a matching wine pairing.
Inclusive services
Room rates from CHF 220 per night include breakfast in the BÄRENSTOBE, use of the BÄREN SPA and free parking.
