For the Wetscher family, sustainability is a lived philosophy, not merely a buzzword. In terms of energy policy, senior partner Hermann Wetscher was the initiator of the district heating plant in Fügen as early as 2001—the very plant from which the hotel still draws clean energy today. By the late 1970s, the hotel already had heat pumps. Later, solar collectors were added, which cover the entire hotel’s energy needs in a resource-efficient manner.
