December: Nesslerhof in Grossarl
The Nesslerhof in Salzburger Land now shines with a fresh new look after a major renovation
At the wellness hotel Nesslerhof in Grossarl in Salzburger Land holidays are easy, free and close to nature. "Feel the spirit of natural happiness" is the slogan of this privately run place of happiness run by Tina and Hermann Neudegger in a sunny box seat in the Valley of the Alms. The best thing about it: it is a living reality at the Nesslerhof. Home, mountains and regionality are the cornerstones of the hotel. Even better: the two hosts have listened carefully and fulfilled their guests' wishes for even more space, area and quality. Numerous new features have been added to the hotel since July 2023. These include the luxurious suites with private spa on the top floor, the now 800 square meter natural swimming pond and the 25 meter long outdoor pool with whirlpool and champagne loungers. There is also generous space for yoga, fitness and spa experiences. Further suites with an extravagant, high-quality design will be added by December 2023.
More space and comfort for an even more relaxing vacation resort: The most important input for the renovation was the honest feedback from our guests, agree owners Tina and Hermann Neudegger. At the Nesslerhof, their wishes are there to be recognized and fulfilled. It quickly became clear that more space and comfort were needed for an even more relaxing vacation resort. By July 2023, four new, bright double rooms in the south and five new comfortable suites with spacious terraces and a private spa on the top floor had been created. The highlight: the 194-square-metre "Mountain Magic" suite with its own pool, sauna and fireplace on the terrace. It offers what its name promises: magical vacation moments with sensational views of the Grossarl mountain landscape. But its smaller "sisters", the "Hochgefühl" suite (156 m²2) with outdoor sauna and whirlpool and the "Sterndlgucker" suite (80 m²2), are in no way inferior. Relax and watch the stars from the sauna cabin in the evening? A vacation at the Nesslerhof makes it possible!
Other new features include the now 25-metre-long outdoor pool with integrated whirlpool and bubble loungers. The outdoor pool is framed by the 800 square meter natural swimming pond. Sunny restaurants, a new bar and a two-storey underground car park with charging stations for electric cars now complement the existing "Haus 2011". A new reception, ski cellar & bike room, newly designed rooms for more than 100 different beauty treatments, a bright yoga and activity room, a spacious fitness room and the spa's day bar have also been there since July. The rooms and suites in the new "sechzehndreiundvierzig" building will open in December 2023. A total of 86 rooms and suites will be available to Nesslerhof guests once the renovation is complete. By the way: 1643, the year in which the Nesslerhof was first mentioned in the historical writings of Grossarl.
Team play for the well-being of guests: Tina and Hermann Neudegger have been running the Nesslerhof in Grossarl since 2011. What unites them is their passion for their profession and the desire to make vacation dreams come true. They and their team, who affectionately call themselves the "guest whisperers", have listened and felt what changes their guests have in mind. There was always talk of larger suites with a private spa and more space for relaxation, they report. Despite all the innovations, the Neudeggers themselves are firmly rooted. They see concepts such as being close to home, regionality, mindfulness, nature and naturalness as the basis and inspiration for their personal happiness; they want to make them tangible for others. "Guests should feel themselves in the hotel, in the world out there," says Tina Neudegger, explaining in her own words what is meant by the claim "Feel the spirit of natural happiness". She sees the current renovation as an upgrade for more comfort and exclusivity. Nevertheless, the hotel wants to remain "grounded". Vacations at the Nesslerhof should feel lively, light, unconventional and, above all, relaxed. The good souls of the hotel, the staff and owners themselves, ensure that this does not change with their absolute dedication to service and the well-being of the guests.
The credo in the kitchen is regional and sustainable: Successful moments of pleasure are the salt in the soup of every vacation. The kitchen at the Nesslerhof acts, or rather cooks, according to this motto. High-quality products from the region are at the top of the menu: from breakfast and afternoon snacks to dinner in the evening. For chef-guest whisperer Hermann Neudegger, a trained chef and former head chef at the hotel, one thing is certain: you can taste the love for the produce and the time that each farmer puts into his work on the plate. So it's a good thing that so many edible products are "harvested" or processed on the doorstep in the Grossartal. Butter, honey, eggs and dairy products such as yogurt and cheese come directly from next door. Hermann is particularly proud of his in-house butcher's shop, whose meat, tasty bacon and sausages such as "Wilde Wiener" are served at the hotel. More regionality is not possible. The game meat from the local forests, enhanced by alpine herbs and fresh mountain air, is also a real treat. Baker Toni has the smallest carbon footprint of all the partners. He delivers fresh bread and fragrant rolls from his bakery directly opposite the hotel;
When it comes to sustainability, the kitchen team adds the icing on the cake by using more than just the fillets when preparing meat dishes. "Nose-to-tail" is his principle and it tastes delicious
Pure relaxation in the SPA: The Nesslerhof also stands for wellness at its finest. The charming Adults Only Spa for guests aged 16 and over offers various saunas, including an outdoor old wood sauna, fragrant Swiss stone pine sauna, brine steam bath and event sauna. Several times a week, sauna masters Ignaz and Leo make guests really sweat with their seasonal infusions. They collect the herbs for this on the mountain. Those who want to come down from their hot heaven can relax in one of the eight spacious relaxation rooms or in the beautiful, spacious garden. The new "The Garden Bar" offers culinary refreshments, while the 1,200 square meter water world promises physical cooling. The outdoor saltwater pool, indoor pool with adjoining 25-metre outdoor pool with whirlpool or the 800-square-metre natural swimming pond invite you to let yourself drift. Still haven't found yourself? Then we recommend putting yourself in the hands of the spa experts at the Nesslerhof, a member of the "Best Alpine Wellness Hotels", and booking one of the soothing massages or beauty & wellness treatments. By the way: the panoramic textile sauna by the pool, which is freely accessible to all ages, is ideal for families. Visitors looking for relaxation without an overnight stay can enjoy the extensive day spa offer with breakfast, snack and bookable dinner.
Active vacation in the Valley of the Alms:
Sometimes it takes physical activity, a round of fitness or a guided yoga session to ground yourself. Owner Tina Neudegger herself is an enthusiastic yogini. She would like to continue to introduce the topic at the Nesslerhof. A first yoga retreat with teacher and influencer Anna Posch will take place from November 16 to 19, 2023
However, Tina and Herman Neudegger agree that the greatest source of strength is right outside the doors of the hotel, the unique nature of the Grossartal. As often as possible, the two are out and about in the "Valley of the Alms" to recharge their batteries. They also regularly show guests their most beautiful spots on personally guided hikes. In summer, you can go on foot, by bike or - for pleasure-seekers - by cable car. 250 well-marked hiking trails wind their way to the peaks and mountain lakes in the surrounding area. Breaks and culinary experiences along the way are provided by 40 mountain huts. In winter, guests are drawn to the ski slopes and the Nesslerhof is transformed into the perfect ski-in ski-out hotel with direct access to Austria's largest ski region "Ski Amadé" thanks to the cable car opposite the hotel. With more than 70 kilometers of slopes, 18 modern lifts and guaranteed snow from December to April, ski bunnies at the Nesslerhof have their Eldorado literally "at their feet". Those who prefer a quieter experience can enjoy tobogganing, listen to nature on a snowshoe or winter hike or take a few leisurely laps on perfectly groomed cross-country ski trails;
