Coburg Palace

2nd place: History and elegance combined. Where 500 years ago massive city walls protected Vienna from attackers, the magnificent Palais Coburg stands today.

Built on the remains of the historic Braunbastei and completed in 1845, the building has been badly damaged over the decades. Between 2000 and 2003, the palace underwent extensive renovation and was reopened in its original splendor as a luxurious all-suite hotel. The next renovation is currently underway: "The suites will be state-of-the-art: modern, timeless, stylish and practically designed. In the course of the renovation, we have also decided to adapt the guest journey - so we are adapting the state rooms. We are creating a new fitness area, a new 700 square meter suite on top of the Palais and a renovated façade. All in all, we are investing a lot to make the luxury experience even more important for our guests," explains Resident Manager Jochen Manninger.

Culinary delights

The gourmet restaurant Silvio Nickol, which has been awarded two Michelin stars and five Gault Millau toques since 2012 and is named after the renowned German chef de cuisine, offers pure exclusivity. This exceptional restaurant makes the Palais Coburg Residenz a place of culinary excellence.

The restaurant's wine list was named the best in the world by the renowned "The World of Fine Wine" magazine in 2014, 2017 and 2021. With over 60,000 bottles, the wine cellar is the second largest in Europe and the largest in Austria. Its most valuable holdings include rarities from Mouton Rothschild, Château d'Yquem and Pétrus, making it one of the world's most important wine cellars.

Contemporary delights in a historic ambience

The second restaurant, Clementine im Glashaus, named after Princess Clementine of Orléans, the first inhabitant of the Palais, invites you to enjoy a relaxed culinary experience. With its modern interpretation of Austrian cuisine, it is not only popular with hotel guests. Delicious dishes can be enjoyed on the sunny outdoor terrace under shady trees, accompanied by a corresponding wine pairing.
The adjoining wine bar on the first floor of the hotel creates a cozy atmosphere. A carefully prepared snack platter and a glass of exquisite rare wines are a stylish and relaxed way to round off the evening.

Preserve the past, enjoy the present

The 34 suites of the Palais Coburg Residenz - with living spaces ranging from 54 m2 to 165 m2 - offer a generous amount of space. Many of the suites extend as maisonettes over two floors and are individually furnished with antique furniture and special attention to detail. Fantastic views of the cathedral or the garden round off the exclusive ambience.

Relaxation at the highest level

The opulent spa area awaits guests on the third floor of the Palais, perfectly complementing the luxurious character of the building. An indoor pool, sauna, steam bath, winter garden, sun terrace and a variety of massage and beauty treatments invite you to relax. The magnificent rooms and atmospheric casemates provide a unique backdrop for special occasions.

A special highlight is the monthly champagne brunch. Whether oysters, roast beef or crêpes - the extensive range of starters, main courses and desserts leaves nothing to be desired. Together with family or friends, this special experience can be toasted with freeflow champagne, providing the perfect start to the day.
