FORESTIS

1st Place: The clear waters of the Plose Spring, the fresh air, plenty of sunny days, and the mild climate have been the four pillars of the South Tyrolean village of Palmschoß since the early 20th century, and this is also true of the FORESTIS Hideaway.

Originally planned in the 1920s as a health resort in South Tyrol and designed by Otto Wagner, a historic building lay dormant. In 2020, Teresa Unterthiner and Stefan Hinteregger fulfilled a dream with the Hideaway, situated in a secluded location at 1,800 meters. Together with their team, they live out a philosophy of mindfulness toward people and nature here.
The 62 suites—including 2 penthouse suites, one in each of the two outer towers, 40 tower suites in the three towers, and 20 suites in the historic building—reflect this very mindfulness. Air, water, sun, wood, and stone: natural materials symbolize the stillness of the forest and the surrounding nature. Flanking the historic building are three sculptural suite towers of varying heights, modeled after tree trunks, which rise toward the sky like trees and blend harmoniously into the forest landscape. The distinctive architecture of FORESTIS is unique in the European Alps and brings guests even closer to the natural spectacle of the Dolomites.

Natural relaxation

Even the Celts who settled in this region were close to nature and drew their knowledge of the human body from the teachings of nature. They felt a particularly close connection to the forest, which they made their teacher. That is why the FORESTIS treatments follow the principle of the four native trees: mountain pine, spruce, larch, and Swiss stone pine. Each tree possesses active ingredients, frequencies, and materials that deeply regenerate the human body. The spa spans 2,000 square meters and features an indoor and outdoor pool, a brine steam bath, various saunas, a silent room with a fireplace, a tea lounge with a library, a gym, a Wyda room, and treatment rooms.

Nature-inspired cuisine

Nature and local farmers from the surrounding area and region provide the ingredients for Head Chef Roland Lamprecht, who creates exceptional culinary experiences by combining respect for tradition with the creativity of modern cuisine. The terraced restaurant with floor-to-ceiling windows sets the stage for the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site, the Dolomites.
