Castel Fragsburg
1st Place: The Relais & Châteaux Castel Fragsburg is a retreat you won’t want to leave anytime soon.
Indulge in the pleasures
Speaking of the terrace. It seems to float above the treetops, ensuring that guests never forget they are 400 meters above Merano. The suites are cleverly integrated into the historic Fragsburg building, featuring a modern Alpine style and exuding a cozy ambiance. After a few laps in the sparkling blue outdoor pool and a leisurely hike to the nearby Greiterhof, you’ll be truly looking forward to the award-winning menu from the kitchen of South Tyrolean Michelin-starred chef Egon Heiss. Expectations are certainly met, and as you savor the last sip of wine with a view of the thousands of lights in Merano, you’re already looking forward to breakfast. And rightly so, because a true culinary delight awaits guests here.
The scent of herbs
The wide array of South Tyrolean herbs fills the air at the first alchemical spa, Castellum Natura. Every product crafted here by modern alchemist Renate De Mario Gamper promotes a sense of well-being. Pre-packaged products are completely avoided. Everyone will find something here to make their body and soul happy: a magical hike with the herbalist, a picnic in the adjacent medieval castle—accessible exclusively to hotel guests—a revitalizing massage with rosemary and meadow queen, or simply reading a book in the charming 50,000 m² garden.
As a special service, car windows are cleaned before departure. This way, you can leave the mountain safely—with a heavy heart, but with a clear view.
