La Majun
The family-run Hotel La Majun in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites impresses with its combination of vitality, tradition and coziness.
Traditional (building) elements, such as the time-honored loden cloth, are complemented by a minimalist interpretation of Alpine style. The Rinna and Mellauner host family has a particular penchant for carefully orchestrated lighting by international artists such as Philippe Starck.
Action and variety
The Dolomites offer plenty of fun for active vacationers. A ski tour over gentle slopes on the Setass or take part in the challenging Tour de Sas - variety is guaranteed. With over 1,200 kilometers of slopes and 460 lifts and cable cars, Dolomiti Superski is the largest ski network in the Alps. The Alta Badia ski area is right in the middle of it all - so guests at La Majun can get straight into the skiing fun.
In summer, 400 kilometers of hiking trails lead through forests and meadows to alpine pastures and Dolomite peaks. The Alta Badia summer cable cars make the ascent and descent easier. The Dolomites and Alta Badia in particular are also a paradise for racing cyclists. Hardly anywhere else in the world are there more road bike tours. A mountain bike vacation in South Tyrol can be enjoyed just as carefree on a total of 80 kilometers of designated off-road routes.
In the 600 m² spa, the indoor pool has panoramic windows overlooking the Dolomites and the two Finnish saunas and salt steam bath are made of natural stone and wood. After a sauna session, a Kneipp pool and a plunge pool filled with fresh mountain spring water will revitalize you. A hay flower bath in the wooden farmer's tub is recommended.
Enjoyment with tradition
The chef combines typical Ladin cuisine with a cosmopolitan approach and his hobby of hunting: you can taste the Dolomites, the mountain forest and the region in every bite. And the wine bar has the right wine to match. "The almost fifty-year-old culinary tradition of our hotel was born in the cellar, peeling potatoes", recalls Roberta, the senior manager. With its reinterpreted Ladin specialties, seasonal dishes and the combination of ingredients from Italian cuisine, the restaurant at Hotel La Majun is now a firm fixture on the gastronomic scene in Alta Badia.
