Hotel Castel
1st Place: A few years ago, a major renovation of the Hotel Castel in Dorf Tirol made a lifelong dream come true for the Dobitsch family, who run the hotel.
Gourmet Delights
At Castel ÀlaCarte, thanks to the almost entirely glass facade and the new glass roof, you can dine al fresco in every season. At the touch of a button, the room transforms into a terrace with a breathtaking view of Merano when the weather is nice.
The gourmet restaurant Castel finedining—also helmed by the exceptional chef Gerhard Wieser, just like the hotel restaurant—has also received a makeover. With just five tables, the former Trenkerstube has become a true gem. Here, too, guests enjoy an exclusive view of the cultural city through a 15-meter-long glass façade, which can be largely opened in the summer. Other highlights of the multi-award-winning restaurant—2 stars, 5 toques, and 19 points in GaultMillau: The buffet area with a live cooking station, the glass-enclosed wine cellar, and the direct connection to the bar with its new terrace and lounge area.
Pure spa experience
Three pools, a fitness room, an outdoor relaxation area, and a beautiful garden ensure the best moments of relaxation. The infinity pool extends beyond the hotel, with the whirlpool right next to it. Both pools offer a wonderful unobstructed view all the way to Bolzano, up to the three-thousand-meter peaks in the Vinschgau Valley, and on the right side far across the vineyards to Tyrol Castle. From the infinity pool, a passageway leads to a light-filled, six-meter-high indoor pool with large glass facades.
The park in front of the hotel has always defined the view from nearly every area of the hotel. Whether in the morning at breakfast, during the day on the bar terrace, or in the evening at dinner—it can be seen from every area and also from the balconies of most rooms and suites. However, the garden is particularly valuable for the adjacent pool area and the nearby spa.
