Hotel Familiamus
2nd place: Susi and Peter Nestl had always dreamed of opening a unique family hotel, and for 15 years they searched for the perfect location for their cozy retreat in the countryside. They found it in Meransen, in the Gitschberg Jochtal ski and alpine region.
In December 2022, the Family Aktiv & Wellness Hotel Familiamus finally opened its doors as a destination for families of all kinds. The region’s first 5-star hotel—and its first all-inclusive property—is fully dedicated to multi-generational vacations.
Right outside the door, at 1,400 meters, the 55 kilometers of slopes in the Gitschberg Jochtal ski area begin. From here, children can head straight out onto the slopes with their ski instructor, while adults can enjoy the fun on the slopes without a care in the world. In addition, snowshoe hikes, ski tours, tracking animals in the snow, and much more ensure precious memories.
Inside the hotel, a 1,000 m² indoor play area—featuring a magic lab, gym, art studio, woodshop, and climbing wall—is a no-fuss zone. There’s also a teens’ room for chilling out, cooking classes, an outdoor playground, and the animal world, where you can learn how to interact with horses. Not to mention the spacious water and wellness area for the whole family.
The rooms feature extra-wide cozy beds, walk-in closets, bathrooms with family sinks and a children’s bathtub, large balconies, and plenty of space to relax.
Inspired by the tranquility of the South Tyrolean peaks and the lush meadows all around, Chef Stefan and his team conjure up culinary delights as part of the gourmet full-board package, even for the most discerning young palates.
