In the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, nestled in the unspoiled natural and cultural landscape of the almost car-free Alpe di Siusi, the Icaro Hotel welcomes its guests at an altitude of 1,900 meters. The history of the Icaro dates back to the 1930s, when it was still a simple hut for hikers and skiers. Over the decades, the building has been constantly expanded and modernized. The latest and most visionary renovation was carried out in 2021 by the MoDus Architects group from Brixen - on the initiative of Angelika Sattler, the founder's granddaughter. The result: a total work of art in which tradition, art and modern architecture merge into a unique entity.
The monumental façade of the Icaro immediately catches the eye, dominated by local woods: larch outside, spruce, oak and elm inside. However, it is not only natural materials that characterize the ambience, but also a harmonious world of colour: rich tones, lively patterns and contrasting details ensure an inspiring living experience. Anyone taking a tour of the hotel will also come across works by local artists and selected design pieces that underline the artistic character of the hotel.
In the small but exquisite Alm-Spa, guests can relax in the bio sauna, steam bath, infrared cabin or Finnish sauna in the garden.
