The charming hotel in Pontresina offers all the amenities you would expect from a 4-star superior hotel and at the same time impresses with its family atmosphere: the hotel has been family-owned for three generations and is managed personally and with great dedication by the host family. The grandeur of the Grand Hotel is emphasized with selected materials and local craftsmanship, creating a cosmopolitan atmosphere in alpine surroundings - framed by a classic Belle Époque ambience and the unique natural landscape of the Engadine! To mark its 110th anniversary, the Walther family gave their gem a complete makeover on the first floor in spring 2017: The comprehensive makeover (design: Virginia Maissen), which cost over CHF 3 million, not only breathed new life into the entrance area and reception, but also into the lobby, bar, fumoir and dining rooms. The result? A storm of enthusiasm from our guest testers! And because progress is a constant here, the rooms came next. Every year, various rooms shine in new splendor and familiar charm.

Some of the rooms have a balcony or terrace - the picturesque natural backdrop of Pontresina is close enough to touch! The 2 suites and 11 junior suites at the Hotel Walther are also a special highlight. The typical alpine smell of wood creates an authentic atmosphere in these spacious and luxurious living spaces that will make the heart of any connoisseur beat faster.
Brand new since June 2019, the authentic Italian restaurant La Trattoria conjures up a large portion of Italian charm in Pontresina. The focus is on joie de vivre and the enjoyment of Italy. The motto "uncomplicated, cheerful and honest" is also honored in culinary terms: classic Italian cuisine is served without any frills. Highlight: the homemade and always fresh pasta creations! Just a few meters from the Belle Epoque house, the Arvenstuben of the Hotel Steinbock - also family-owned - also smells of newly discovered and traditional delicacies from the Engadin. Where alpinists once met, cheese melts today: enjoy cheese fondue and raclette in the "Gondolezza" restaurant, a decommissioned Diavolezza cable car cabin with a view of the blossoming garden park. The stylish meeting place for a perfect end to the evening is the wonderful bar with a surprising light installation by artist Rolf Sachs and a separate fumoir.
