September: Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois in Basel

Rich in history, young at heart.

Many future innovations for the Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois in Basel: The historic Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois is located in the heart of the old town of Basel, a city of art and culture, directly on the banks of the Rhine. The luxurious five-star hotel is one of the oldest and most prestigious city hotels in Europe and part of the Leading Hotels of the World.
The Cheval Blanc restaurant, which has been awarded three Michelin stars and is run by top chef Peter Knogl, is a particular highlight of the hotel and a culinary experience for all gourmets.

In keeping with its slogan 'Rich in Histroy, Young at Heart' , a new chapter is dawning for the hotel with a rich history. In future, the hotel experience will be expanded by several dimensions: an exclusive rooftop spa above the rooftops of Basel will offer guests pure relaxation in future, while a versatile event location and an impressive Salon du Cigare will set new accents.

Where history and luxury meet: Originally founded in 1681 as the Herrenherberge and Gasthof zu den drei Königen, the building shone in new splendor from 1844 after its conversion into the Grand Hotel and became a place where prominent personalities came and went. The guest list reads like a Who's Who of world history - from Queen Elizabeth II and Empress Michiko of Japan to Thomas Mann and the visionary Pablo Picasso, they have all been guests at this noble city hotel.

Rooms and suites: The design of the 101 rooms and suites is characterized by a mixture of the charm of bygone eras and the most modern luxury and comfort: From here, guests can enjoy sweeping views of the Rhine and Basel's old town.
Designed in the style of classicism, they reflect a historical atmosphere and are furnished with selected antiques and works of art.
A variety of color accents, plenty of natural light and warm interiors create an exclusive ambience where guests can relax from everyday life and recharge their batteries.
Particularly noteworthy is the luxuriously designed lime green themed River Suite Napoleon, which is reminiscent of Napoleon Bonaparte in the old inn in 1797 - including golden decorations, graceful paintings and a ceiling panel with a cloudy sky.

Culinary finesse: The crown jewel of the Grand Hotel is the three Michelin-starred gourmet restaurant Cheval Blanc under the direction of renowned chef Peter Knogl, who is one of the three highest-rated chefs in the country. French haute cuisine blends with Mediterranean and Asian influences and turns the artfully prepared creations into incomparable taste experiences.
The in-house brasserie offers guests a selection of Swiss and French brasserie specialties. In the stylish bar - once voted Bar of the Year in Switzerland in 2015 - guests can enjoy sophisticatedly mixed drinks by Chef de Bar Thomas Huhn accompanied by live piano music or a classic afternoon tea in a cozy atmosphere.

Floral art: Unique bouquets in the lobby, corridors and business rooms of the hotel are part of the hotel's interior and point to another highlight of the hotel: The in-house flower store Fleurs des Rois, not far from the Grand Hotel, which impresses with its artistic flower arrangements and decorations and puts together tailor-made bouquets for guests for occasions of all kinds.

Location: Thanks to its excellent, central location directly on the banks of the Rhine, the hotel is the ideal starting point for explorations and, thanks to its proximity to the main railway station and airport, makes traveling from all over the world convenient and stress-free.
Guests can experience the cultural oasis of Basel in all its diversity in the immediate vicinity, as the Grand Hotel is within walking distance of the Theater Basel, Kunstmuseum Basel and galleries and boutiques.
