May: Vitznauerhof

A lakeside lifestyle retreat

The historic Hotel Vitznauerhof is situated at the foot of Mount Rigi, right on the shores of Lake Lucerne. A place where nature, history, and design blend harmoniously. This stylish Art Nouveau boutique hotel, built in 1901, combines historic architecture with modern touches and now offers 53 individually designed rooms and suites, all with stunning views of the lake and mountains.

Host Raphael Herzog has breathed new life into the hotel, combining personal hospitality with a keen sense of quality. The Vitznauerhof once hosted personalities such as Hermann Hesse and Richard Strauss. In 2026, the hotel will celebrate its 125th anniversary—accompanied by a diverse program of events and special culinary experiences.

Whether on the private beach or enjoying one of the longest sunsets on the lake: here, the focus is on arriving and relaxing.

Cuisine with a View

At the Inspiration restaurant, seasonal, regional cuisine meets creative sophistication. Fresh, locally sourced ingredients form the basis for light, aromatic dishes, complemented by locally sourced fish or meat. Awarded 13 Gault & Millau points, the restaurant impresses not only with its flavors but also with its panoramic terrace—highlighting the Mediterranean flair of a gourmet Riviera on Lake Lucerne.

A special highlight is the Sens Restaurant: From May to September, it becomes the summer residence of top international chefs, who provide culinary highlights right on the lake with changing menus.

Wellness, Nature & Experiences

The Vitznauerhof is both a retreat and an adventure. Guests can relax in the approximately 900-square-meter wellness area featuring a sauna, steam bath, outdoor whirlpool, and a variety of treatments. Right outside the door, the lake invites guests to swim, stand-up paddle, or go boating.

The surrounding mountains also offer numerous possibilities, from panoramic hikes on the Rigi to excursions to Lucerne or Mount Pilatus. The charming village of Vitznau rounds out the experience with its authentic atmosphere.

This iconic Swiss hotel combines Mediterranean flair with an Alpine backdrop and promises delightful days right on the water.
