February: Widder Hotel Zurich
A total work of art in the heart of Zurich's old town
In the heart of Zurich's historic old town, the Widder Hotel combines past and present in an exceptionally harmonious way. The five-star superior hotel extends over nine carefully restored medieval townhouses and combines history, contemporary architecture, art and design to create an architectural masterpiece of timeless elegance. The refurbishment, which has taken years to complete, respects the historical heritage down to the smallest detail and at the same time reinterprets it boldly and precisely.
Living with character and privacy
The 49 individually designed rooms and suites as well as four exclusive Luxury Residences reflect the hotel's uncompromising quality standards. No two rooms are the same. Historic building structures meet iconic modern design classics, fine materials meet the finest craftsmanship. The result is a living experience of quiet sophistication - personal, cultivated and characterized by a high degree of privacy.
With the Monocle Townhouse, the Widder Hotel is adding an elegant, spacious townhouse with three bedrooms and spacious living areas to its range. Created in collaboration with the international media house Monocle, it combines the renowned Swiss hospitality of the Widder Hotel with the homely, sophisticated design signature of Monocle - and thus creates a private retreat for discerning travelers.
Culinary delights with international appeal
In culinary terms, the Widder Hotel is one of the most renowned addresses in Switzerland. With two Michelin stars and 18 GaultMillau points, the award-winning Widder Restaurant under the management of Stefan Heilemann is one of the very best. The offer is complemented by the urban boucherie AuGust and Soï 28 by Stefan Heilemann, a modern, urban concept for Asian street and soul food cuisine, inspired by the side streets of Bangkok and anchored in Zurich's old town.
Bar culture, encounters and one of the most exclusive cocktail menus in the world
With over 650 whiskies, excellent bar culture and a living jazz tradition, the legendary Widder Bar enjoys cult status far beyond the city limits and has already been the stage for world-famous jazz greats who have feasted on Zurich's largest whisky archive. To mark its 30th anniversary in 2025, the bar is collaborating with the renowned Zurich silversmith Meister 1881 to present what is probably one of the most exclusive cocktail menus in the world: a 15-kilogram silver ram's head with 82 individual parts soldered together.
Seasonal highlights
In the middle of the old town, the Widder Garden is a green oasis for cool cocktails, refreshing drinks and light meals in summer. From November to the end of January, the Widder Wonder Garden is transformed into a magical winter oasis in collaboration with the renowned champagne house Perrier-Jouët: eight gondolas in the atmospherically staged inner courtyard offer fondue specialties from the Jumi cheese dairy, accompanied by Perrier-Jouët champagne - also ideal for a festive aperitif with mulled wine and exquisite snacks.
Contemporary luxury with responsibility
As part of The Living Circle, the Widder Hotel stands for a contemporary understanding of luxury that naturally combines indulgence, sustainability and responsibility. Farm-to-table, a conscious use of resources and the highest quality standards are firmly anchored in the hotel's DNA.
The Widder Hotel is not a classic luxury hotel, but a hotel with attitude, history and soul - a retreat for cosmopolitans, design lovers and connoisseurs.
A hotel that sets standards and deserves the title Hotel of the Month in every respect.
