La Réserve Eden au Lac Zurich
The hotel has stood proudly, calmly and solidly on the shores of Lake Zurich for a hundred years. And now, following a renovation by star architect Philippe Starck, it has been given a new lease of life.
The legendary Hotel La Réserve Eden au Lac has been shining in new splendor since 2020. The French designer and architect Philippe Starck was responsible for breathing new life into the majestic building with his typical design mix.
In the 40 rooms and suites, natural, light colors, solid brick walls and fine rattan create a warm ambience. Starck has designed the accommodation units like ship cabins. Nautical charts and postcards with sailing ships as decorative elements provide inspiration for a day at sea. The fitness room with first-class equipment also inspires body and soul: red wood, mirrors and blown glass conjure up a sophisticated atmosphere. In the open stairwell, on the other hand, colorful glass windows by artist Ara Starck refract the light beautifully.
La Réserve Eden au Lac focuses on contemporary and elegant cuisine in two unique restaurants. Philippe Starck's signature is once again evident here. Eden Kitchen & Bar with open show kitchen is located on the ground floor. Large window fronts, light-colored floors, red wood, oars and ship hulls are reminiscent of the close relationship between the hotel and the lake. Chef Marco Ortolani and his team focus on culinary traditions from a wide variety of countries, with a particular emphasis on grilled specialties. But there are also classics such as tartare, Zürcher Geschnetzeltes and pasta dishes from his home country. Vegetables and meat are sourced 85% from the region around Zurich. On the sixth floor, La Muña enchants with its open-air rooftop high above the city with 360° panoramic views of the historic city center, the lake and the Alps in the distance. Inside, the restaurant occupies the space of the old attic under the hotel's spectacular dome. The Peruvian-Japanese dishes at La Muña combine melt-in-the-mouth and crispy, raw and marinated, sweet and sour. True to the values of La Réserve: excellence, authenticity and simplicity.
