Schadau Castle
Once upon a time there was a beautiful castle on the shores of Lake Thun... sounds suspiciously like the beginning of a fairy tale? It really is! After a complete interior renovation by the city of Thun, the chateau reopened its doors as a hotel and restaurant in June 2019 and has been enchanting guests with picture-book vacations ever since.
It requires the utmost precision and a good sense of style to renovate a listed building in such a discreet manner and still allow so much fresh air to blow through the venerable walls. The city of Thun has done it! When refurbishing the building, they knew exactly how to showcase the historical character of the castle while at the same time refreshing it with contemporary comfort and modern furnishings. A more than successful appearance!

Schadau Castle is a real fairytale castle. But fortunately also a hotel. Because it's not just royalty that can reside here like royalty: the nine unique castle rooms and suites are refuges of good style, in which fine parquet floors and charming wallpaper provide the perfect backdrop for the fashionable, stylish interior. And every room also offers fantastic views to the outside. Whether tower or corner room: here you can look out over the tranquil lake and far beyond the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. The background moves into the foreground all by itself and paints - what else - a fairytale picture.
