Stars and heroes among themselves - this is a fitting description of what is probably the most extraordinary hotel concept in Switzerland: French star architect, Pritzker Prize winner and film lover Jean Nouvel drew on the genius of the actors and directors of his favorite films to design a hotel that is like a dream journey through the great screen epics of cinema history. Located in the middle of Lake Lucerne and surrounded by mountain panoramas and parks, the backdrop for the idiosyncratic The Hotel, Autograph Collection could not be more breathtaking.
Each of the fascinating rooms at The Hotel, Autograph Collection is a small masterpiece of design and hospitality - luxury without the pomp! The layout, furnishings, décor and atmosphere make each room unique. The large-scale, fascinating staging of various film scenes on the ceilings and walls of the 30 suites and studios creates a sensual atmosphere. In contrast to the opulent ceiling, the furnishings in the rooms are cool and minimalist: desks, beds, bedside tables, armchairs and chairs were specially created by Nouvel for The Hotel Luzern to match the thematic film plot and are part of a stimulating total work of art. All vertical lines are accentuated with dark Jatoba wood, the horizontal lines are in matt chrome steel - brightly colored, round leather armchairs provide cheeky accents. Nouvel created a deliberate contrast with the minimalist and functional design of the corridors - the path to the room is like an expectant walk into your own movie theater. When the door opens, the curtain rises, the magical play begins, space and time lose their meaning and it becomes clear - the real hero here is the guest.
Lucullan revelations await at the Hotel Astoria just a few steps away. Here, exquisite Asian delicacies are served in the Mekong and the Thai Garden, which has been awarded 14 Gault&Millau points. The La Cucina restaurant, which has been awarded 13 points, serves Italian classics in a Tuscan ambience. The culinary world tour is rounded off by the Pacifico restaurant in the adjoining Renaissance Lucerne Hotel, which has Mexican specialties on the menu.
