The historic building on Basel's market square has been completely renovated and converted into a boutique hotel in the upper 4-star category and a restaurant with bar. City tourists and business travelers particularly appreciate the central location of the historic building: it is only two minutes to the Rhine, five minutes to the cathedral and just ten minutes to the theater.
The charm, liveliness and eventful history of the traditional hotel are also reflected in the interior design. In the 68 rooms, natural materials such as wood and linen in muted colors complement details of past style eras and modern design elements. The Marktplatz junior suite with its bay window and view over the bustling city, king-size bed, comfortable sofas and free-standing bathtub in addition to the rain shower is particularly appealing.
There is also plenty of space for celebrations and meetings in the hotel run by young host Álvaro Ferrandis. There is a banquet room on the top floor with direct access to the roof terrace. With a view of the market square, it is a great place to work and celebrate. A wellness area with fitness room, sauna and steam bath is available for relaxation in between.
The outdoor area and the large window openings connect the building with the market square and, with the Bohemia restaurant with bar and boulevard terrace on Eisengasse, provide the ideal meeting place for the local population and hotel guests. The large à la carte brunch on Saturdays and Sundays is particularly popular.
