All the more reason for a sensitive restoration. The architects Herzog & de Meuron, who put the focus on the individuality of the guests, were in charge of the project.
The 45 rooms and suites of the hotel, which is perfectly located between the Rhine and the trade fair, impress with their mix of traditional homeliness and extravagant design. The minimalist style leaves plenty of room to spread out, even for the whole family, as connecting doors quickly expand the space. The highlight is the Terrace Suite with roof terrace. With its historic halls and romantic inner courtyard, the hotel is also ideal for parties and meetings. It has also been an institution for large public events since the 1970s and has always been the venue for a wide variety of well-known formats.
In addition to the Brasserie and Imi Bar, the Volkshaus Basel has another gastronomic ace up its sleeve: the bar comes to the guest and serves locally produced Volkshaus Negroni between the sheets, so to speak. From Thursday to Saturday, the Flying Bar rolls from room to room, from suite to suite, from 17:45 to 19:00 and treats guests to all kinds of delicacies
