Schlosshotel Münchhausen
First Place: The 16th-century Schlosshotel Münchhausen, recently and painstakingly restored, marries contemporary comforts with cherished historical antiques.
Enjoying Nature
The Schlosshotel Münchhausen is a true jack-of-all-trades. First and foremost, it’s a golfer’s dream: Two 18-hole courses lie directly adjacent to the hotel, inviting guests to rise, savour a hearty breakfast, and then simply stroll onto the fairways. Those willing to venture a little farther will discover additional layouts scattered throughout the picturesque Weserbergland. Yet the historic castle park is equally spellbinding: meander through one of the earliest English landscape gardens on the European mainland, created in 1750, and stand in awe of its majestic solitary trees. Laid out in 1750, the park boasts impressive solitary trees that invite quiet admiration.
Celebrate Special Occasions
Yet it is not only golf enthusiasts who will find themselves delighted at this Renaissance castle. A civil wedding ceremony in the pavilion, followed by a church ceremony in the castle chapel and a lavish celebration in the elegant rooms—anything is possible. With a total of twelve event rooms and its own conference centre, the Zehntscheune, the hotel also offers the perfect setting for seminars, meetings, and conferences.
Relax in Style
Idyllically situated within the Weserbergland Nature Park, the hotel’s spa facilities stand in a class of their own: this light-filled, paradisiacal retreat spans 800 m² and offers a wide variety of treatments. This oasis of well-being features an 18-metre indoor pool with counter-current system, a sanarium with Liftlight, steam baths, a Finnish sauna (90°C), InfraPLUS seats, the Salina Lounge, an ice fountain, cooling and sensory showers, a spacious sun terrace with floating loungers, relaxation areas, and a full range of wellness and beauty treatments.
Fine Dining
The “1570 - CASUAL FINE DINING” restaurant at the Schlosshotel Münchhausen is the hotel’s new culinary retreat, blending elegance with a sense of lightness. Designed for guests who want to not only experience but also truly savor the pleasure of dining. It presents a cosmopolitan, modern cuisine rooted in classic French culinary traditions, always with a focus on flavor and the quality of ingredients. In addition to a set menu—available upon request as a four- or five-course meal with paired wines—"1570 - CASUAL FINE DINING" now also offers an à la carte selection that includes vegetarian options. Thor Formell Monforte is responsible for the new cuisine’s sophistication and creativity.
In the cosy castle cellar, traditional delicacies from Germany and around the world are served, and during summer, guests may savour the hotel’s refined cuisine on the spacious park terrace, which commands a view of the historic landscaped garden. The evening then draws to a convivial close in the Rittersaal or at the stylish SCHWÖBBAR. Photos: Schlosshotel Münchhausen
