Not far from the Untere Kettwiger Ruhraue nature reserve, on the edge of the city of Essen, sits the historic castle hotel, which is over 370 years old: surrounded by moats, the magnificent heirloom of Baron von Fürstenberg has been transformed into an elegant 5-star superior retreat. Even in the 21st century, the family-run Hugenpoet still stands for genuine hospitality: Director Vivian-Jessica Schiller is dedicated to preserving the achievements of the past and skillfully combines them with the comforts of modernity.
The elegant moated castle has a total of 36 charming rooms and luxurious suites. 18 of these hideaways are located directly in the castle and can be reached via the impressive black marble staircase - and of course by elevator. A further 17 rooms and suites are located in the coach house and the gatehouse. The 36th retreat is the Villa Türmchen: Located in the outer bailey of the castle, the 100 m2 house with its own fireplace and terrace promises vacation enjoyment at the highest level.

The bistro in the remise with its spacious sun terrace overlooking the castle's main building welcomes you daily with coffee and cake specialties and fresh marketplace cuisine.
