Let’s take a moment to relax: The hosts, Kathrin and Christian Sersch, have created a breathtaking retreat with the Seezeitlodge Hotel & Spa.
A hidden gem in a class of its own: Nestled in the heart of the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park, in the northeastern part of the Saarland, lies the Seezeitlodge Hotel & Spa, a member of Design Hotels™. Perched on a small wooded promontory with sweeping views of Lake Bostal in the Sankt Wendel region, this wellness resort offers a tranquil retreat surrounded by nature. The hosts’ connection to the region and the creative mindset of the couple, Kathrin and Christian Sersch, are reflected throughout the property. Under the motto “Truly beautiful. Beautifully true,” they created a hotel with great attention to detail that appeals equally to wellness travelers, athletes, connoisseurs, and lovers of culture and nature, featuring 97 modern rooms and suites.
These range in size from 30 to 80 m² and impress with numerous refinements and top-notch amenities. These include, for example, canopy beds, a desk or console table, a balcony, and a stocked spa bag for the duration of the stay. All king-size box-spring beds face the window front with a view of the lake and the surrounding nature.
The hotel’s facilities also include the Lumi restaurant with a terrace, the Nox bar with a fire lounge, a library, three meeting rooms, and the Seezeit Spa. The Berlin-based architectural firm GRAFT was responsible for the architecture, which has a strong connection to nature, while Birgit Nicolay of Nicolay Design handled the interior and lighting design. The hotel is a member of the Hideaways Hotels Collection and, according to GEO Saison, ranks among the “100 Most Beautiful Hotels in Europe 2018, 2019 & 2022.”
The Seezeitlodge on Lake Bostal has expanded its wellness area to a total of 5,000 square meters. Another highlight is the natural swimming pond with a water surface area of 560 m², a new relaxation room, a pool terrace, a floating pool, and a spa suite. The spa suite offers guests a sauna, a whirlpool tub, and a terrace with a daybed and lounge chairs. The lake-view rooms on the first floor above the spa have also been expanded to include an outdoor area with its own daybed (Lake-View Garden Lodge).
All renovation work, as well as the latest expansion of the spa area, was carried out in harmony with nature wherever possible. For its energy concept, the hotel relies on a photovoltaic system on the roof and a newly constructed wood chip plant, which will handle all heat generation in the future.
