FreiWerk Hotel & Spa Suites
Nestled among the rolling hills of the Southern Harz Mountains, high above the rooftops of Stolberg, lies a charming hideaway that promises unforgettable experiences surrounded by nature. The Hotel & Spa Suiten FreiWerk, perched high on the Thyrahöhe, is the perfect place for a break free from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
In 1894, the FreiWerk was built in Stolberg as the summer residence of a shipping magnate from Bremen. Today, this combination of a historic half-timbered villa and a modern extension offers 37 rooms and suites. The seven new Private Spa Suites, which span two floors, offer a special experience. In addition to a spacious living area and a whirlpool on the balcony, they feature a private spa with a Finnish sauna, steam sauna, infrared sauna, designer bathtub, and large rain shower.
Inside the hotel, a small sauna and fitness area beckons, featuring a herbal sauna, Finnish sauna, ice fountain, and a cozy relaxation room. The fitness area is equipped with innovative machines, some of which were crafted from solid wood in a workshop in Germany.
After a restful night, the morning at Hotel & Spa Suiten FreiWerk begins with a delicious breakfast at Restaurant 20zwanzig. In the afternoon, guests can enjoy delicious cakes and coffee creations, while in the evening, Chef Philipp Liebisch treats discerning gourmets to a high-quality surprise menu.
In 2024, Liebisch launched a culinary calendar for the first time, featuring events that each highlight a special product. Since 2025, an exclusive Chef’s Table for up to eight people has also been added to the offerings, where gourmets enjoy a high-quality surprise menu selected by the chef.
From May through October, the popular Sunday barbecue takes place on the sun terrace. Whether meat, fish, or vegetarian options—everything is fresh off the grill.
