The Kranzbach

A wellness hotel, and all around it: nothing. Well, that’s not quite accurate. All around are mountains, forests, meadows, and a stream. That’s relaxation. And then there’s Das Kranzbach.

It can only be reached via a private toll road: The Kranzbach captivates guests with its exclusive location at 1,030 meters above sea level, nestled in the heart of nature and surrounded by a 130,000 m2 mountain meadow, making it an island of absolute tranquility. The magnificent view of the Zugspitze is a feast for the eyes.

Deluxe wellness in the bathhouse

Wellness enthusiasts will find everything they could wish for in the bathhouse. A total of five indoor and outdoor pools invite you to swim, while eight saunas and steam baths provide a place to sweat; large sunbathing lawns and sheltered terraces tempt you to take a nap. In winter, it’s especially lovely to doze off in the relaxation rooms with a crackling fire. In the Meditation House by Kengo Kuma, guests can practice yoga and meditate in the middle of the forest. Active guests can get some fresh air while running, hiking, or Nordic walking across meadows and through forests, as well as during Aqua Fit and Qi Gong sessions.

History and modernity come together in perfect harmony

The luxurious rooms and suites are spread across two main buildings: the historic “English Castle,” built over 100 years ago by the English noblewoman Mary Isabel Portman, and the modern garden wing made of wood and glass. The understated color scheme in light, pastel natural tones soothes the senses, while wood, rattan, and upholstered furniture lend the ambiance a natural yet elegant touch.

Strolling through the herb garden

Herbs taste good, have healing properties, and usually look great too. In the hotel’s lovingly landscaped herb garden, you can learn amazing things about the world of these plants. Herb expert Susanne Erhart has created a special herb garden in Kranzbach through meticulous handwork and extensive knowledge of bed layout, cultivation methods, plant propagation, seed production, and plant processing. Approximately 130 different herbs and medicinal plants, some of which are rare, thrive under expert care. Much to the delight of the kitchen team, as frequently used culinary herbs and vegetable plants grow in their own kitchen garden. Particularly picturesque: over 200 rose bushes and a row of sunflowers frame the herb garden.
