It is not unusual for celebrities to stay at the idyllic country house in Ilsenburg. On the way to the Brocken in the Harz Mountains - a popular hiking area and famous meeting place for witches on Walpurgis Night - Schiller, Heine, Tsar Peter and Kaiser Wilhelm as well as the poet prince Goethe have all stayed here. Of course, people don't like to talk about their secrets, but it leaked out that George Clooney stayed here during the filming of "Monuments Men".
The rooms and suites are timelessly cozy. Pretty wallpaper patterns, floor-length curtains and cozy cushions create a romantic atmosphere. The suites are elegantly furnished, with modern wooden floors, spacious balconies and inviting sitting areas. The pride of the hotel are the bathhouse suites, which were integrated into the listed and renovated bathhouse in 2012. Two suites are located on each floor and can be combined via a connecting door. Some of them have a balcony or wooden terrace with a direct view of the lake.
In the light-flooded country house restaurant, guests sit directly by the trout lake and dine outdoors in summer. The wood-paneled Kutscherstube restaurant is particularly cozy. The culinary highlight of the hotel is the gourmet restaurant "Forellenstube": chef Viktor Rundau serves Mediterranean-inspired delicacies with a modern twist. Rundau's cuisine has long since ceased to be an insider tip and is a popular choice for private parties and romantic getaways for two.
