Alpine Lodge
Very private, very chic and very special: the Alpine Lodge in the Allgäu presents itself as a total work of art that deserves applause.
Decor with top marks
To draw another comparison with the opera: No, the rooms on offer in the Alpenloge have nothing to do with a red velvet-lined box for a maximum of five people. Here you can stay in a minimum of 40 square meters with a view of the Allgäu Alps. Warm shades of brown, ochre, cream and dark green dominate the cozy rooms.
Each of the nine boxes is individually furnished and each is characterized by a small special feature. Box 4, for example, is lined with wallpaper reminiscent of old school prints from the Carl Gerold's Sohn publishing house. In Loge 9, on the other hand, the wooden bed and the elephant chairs with lambskin are tucked away in an attic. Deep skylights provide a view of the mountains. A penthouse feeling is created in Loge 8: You can enjoy sunbathing on a spacious terrace or grab a good book for a relaxing time. Fine materials such as wood, natural stone, linen and fur are used. Different colors dominate each floor, such as shades of grey, red and green on the first floor, strong blue and green on the upper floor and bright natural colors under the roof. The style is classically modern, always cozy and inviting.
Best thoughts
The hosts Anja Schott-Engelke and Michael Schott emphasize that they think a lot about the good life here. You immediately believe that they have fallen in love with the property and the building - a former school. The good life naturally includes good food. The breakfast reveals a diverse selection of delicacies from the region: butter, cheese and spicy bacon from the mountain pastures, bread from bakeries with traditional baking skills, homemade jam with fruit, plus delicious egg dishes. The dishes served for dinner are no less regional. Weather permitting, you can enjoy a cozy barbecue in front of the house.
Fine dining in the Alpenloge
Gourmets get their money's worth at the Alpenloge. The culinary concept focuses on individuality, creativity and a sophisticated combination of regional and international ingredients. Head Chef Mark Beastall creates daily changing 3- or 4-course menus, which are reserved exclusively for house guests. The menu is accompanied by a carefully curated selection of choice wines - a real soul food experience that appeals to all the senses.
A little relaxation in the bathing room and sauna completes the feel-good moments in the Alpenloge. Not forgetting the outdoor options such as hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing - or simply lying on the terrace.
