Stylish retreat in a baroque palace, where two-star cuisine reigns supreme: Althoff Grandhotel Schloss Bensberg, Bergisch Gladbach
Between the traditional walls of the Althoff Grandhotel Schloss Bensberg, guests have been able to enjoy a unique hotel experience and one of the leading event locations in the German-speaking world for 25 years. The symbiosis of baroque palace and grand hotel is unique in the world and creates a stylish retreat - including a view of Cologne Cathedral. Exquisite art treasures accompany visitors in all areas of the five-star hotel, which is adorned with a MICHELIN Key and has works by Dalí, Baselitz, Lüpertz, Penck and Beuys. Bensberg Palace, where the famous Anna Maria Luise de' Medici resided, was built in the 18th century.
Today, guests can enjoy some of the most innovative and best gourmet cuisine in the world at the two-star Vendôme restaurant. After Joachim Wissler, Dennis Kuckuck takes over. The Trattoria Enoteca with its Mediterranean ambience has also been awarded a black toque. Artistic masterpieces and delicious drinks can be found in the Salvador Dalí Bar, which pays homage to the great Spanish surrealist with illustrations from the famous cycle of paintings based on Dante's "Divine Comedy".
In keeping with the period in which they were created, the interior design of the bar revives the sophisticated charm of the 1950s: velvet-covered armchairs, bold, contrasting colors, wood-paneled walls and a flickering fireplace create an inviting atmosphere for special evenings. The grand hotel with a view of the Cologne skyline has 111 rooms and suites, including a 165 square meter presidential suite with its own sauna and whirlpool en suite, as well as 13 event rooms.
The interior design is elegant and full of modern contrasts. The 1,000-square-metre 4 elements spa by Althoff offers exclusive wellness moments in a stylish ambience with an indoor pool, modern sauna area and various relaxation rooms and a wide range of treatments inspired by the four elements of fire, water, air and earth. A special highlight is the outdoor area with open-air shower, spacious sunbathing lawn and unique castle panorama.
