Following a complete refurbishment, the Wasserturm Hotel Cologne - Curio Collection by Hilton is once again as much a landmark of Cologne as the cathedral or the Rhine.
A listed building, almost 35 meters high and once the largest of its kind in the whole of Europe: Cologne's old water tower is a pretty (circular) round thing - and since 1990 also a luxury hotel, the likes of which are rarely found anywhere else in the world. Eleven-metre-high columns and artfully illuminated brickwork create an almost sacred atmosphere as soon as you enter the lobby and welcome you to this cathedral of extraordinary design.
The 88 rooms and suites are similarly impressive and also have an unmistakable look. This is partly due to the fact that a water tower like this was never intended for living and sleeping and therefore has pie-shaped room layouts that have nothing to do with conventional hotel rooms.
Following extensive refurbishment as part of a change of operator of the iconic luxury hotel, almost everything in the water tower is new: with the exception of the rooms on floors 8, 9 and 10, which had already been renovated earlier and only needed to be refreshed, everything has been completely refurnished. Due to the floor plans, the rooms are furnished differently, with carpet, parquet or marble flooring and some even extend over two floors.
You should climb to the roof of the old water tower at least once during your stay. To enjoy the spectacular view of Cologne Cathedral and the Siebengebirge mountains while tasting extraordinary cocktail creations in the rooftop bar "Bar Botanik". The bar invites its guests on an extraordinary sensory journey high above the rooftops of the city. Everything revolves around flavors, aromas and fragrances, which can be experienced in the atmosphere of a botanical glass house, the "botanical twist" is reflected in creative signature cocktails and selected soul food.
