Tortue Hamburg
Chic, chic, most chic: The Tortue Hamburg between Stadthausbrücke, Große Bleichen and Neuer Wall in the Stadthöfe shines in new splendor after a star architect renovation.
Building on excellent
Chic, chic, chicest: several star architects and interior designers have gone all out for the Tortue Hamburg. The façade of the listed building, which was built around 1900 in the French style, has been lavishly restored according to the designs of Sir David Chipperfield and Stephen Williams. The 114 rooms, eight suites and four long-stay apartments are all designed by interior designer Kate Hume and exude modern elegance thanks to their straight lines and a touch of playfulness. The extra-long box-spring beds are another highlight of the nightly accommodation, especially for tall people.
Tasteful design
The design hotel is also on a culinary high. The JIN GUI restaurant, designed by Joyce Wang, serves Asian-inspired cuisine with regional and seasonal ingredients, while the brasserie specializes in international dishes with a French twist. Seafood platters and steak tartare go head-to-head with Caviar d'Aquitaine and Lapin à la moutarde (rabbit ragout with roasted vegetables, mustard and TORTUE puree). The nightcap is enjoyed in style in one of the three bars. Choose between the small bar bleu, the large bar noir or the bar privé with its DJ booth - this exclusive party bar is only open by prior arrangement.
