The Charles Hotel
Right in the heart of the city, yet surrounded by the greenery of the Old Botanical Garden:
The Charles Hotel impresses not only with its location but also with its luxurious amenities.
Located right in the heart of the city, this Art Deco-inspired hotel makes you feel as if you’re in another world. This is certainly due to the luxurious ambiance, but above all to the special location. For the majority of the 160 rooms and suites offer a view of the Old Botanical Garden. And that means: lush greenery as far as the eye can see and, at best, the gentle chirping of birds—if the ear, plagued by city noise, can even perceive it. The lobby and the new “Circle Bar” were renovated in 2025. Art Deco elements dominate the bar, located at the rear of the lobby. It offers champagne, snacks, coffee, and pastries inspired by aperitivo culture, while artwork by Francois Mascarello and Mauro Staccioli complements the ambiance.
Breathtakingly unique
Whether a Classic Room or a Presidential 2-Bedroom Suite: Each of the bedrooms and living areas is individually styled and reflects Rocco Forte’s unique connection to the respective destination. Carefully selected art objects by artists who work in Munich or have a special connection to the city, as well as furniture and decorative elements crafted specifically for the hotel, round out the design concept. The largest and most spectacular of all the suites, the Montforte Royal Suite spans 200 square meters, featuring a Bechstein grand piano, a marble bathroom with a steam cabin, and a breathtaking view all the way to the peaks of the Alps.
And speaking of superlatives: the 15x8-meter indoor pool in the spa area is also one of the largest in Munich’s hotels.
Green, green, green
Culinary-wise, the hotel restaurant Sophia’s focuses on excellent, regional, and hand-selected products from local producers. At Sophia’s Bar, guests can enjoy an excellent cocktail.
In Sophia’s Restaurant, bathed in natural light, guests experience upscale, Italian-inspired yet casual cuisine. Under the leadership of new Executive Chef Thomas Beiglböck, the Sophia’s team conjures up classics of Italian cuisine with a modern twist. In the summer, the restaurant enchants guests with its terrace nestled in greenery. The 200-square-meter terrace has been redesigned to resemble a park. Wrought-iron furniture, green hues, and comfortable textiles are intended to create a retreat in the heart of Munich. As the summer outdoor area of the “Florio” restaurant, it complements the restaurant concept set to open in September 2024.
