W Sardinia - Poltu Quatu heading for opening in spring 2026
New lifestyle resort combines modern luxury with Sardinian design, art and culture
The W Sardinia - Poltu Quatu welcomed its first guests in the soft opening for the 2025 summer season and is now preparing for its full opening in spring 2026. The brand's new coastal resort is located on the north-east coast of Sardinia between Porto Cervo and Baia Sardinia, in the village of Poltu Quatu, whose name means "hidden harbor". Nestled in a natural fjord overlooking the Marina dell'Orso, the resort combines maritime flair with the dramatic landscape of granite rocks, vegetation and crystal-clear water.
Architecture and design as a tribute to landscape and mythology
The design was created by Studio Meyer Davis in collaboration with DE.Tales and is based on the natural rhythm of the island, the gradients of light over the marina and the hilly terrain. Materials, surfaces and spatial sequences pick up on movement, times of day and the interplay between tradition and the present. Public and private areas flow seamlessly into one another, while vaulted niches, arches and geometric openings reinterpret historical architectural elements.
Artistic accents are provided by works by Sardinian artists, including a sculpture by Nicola Filia at the entrance as well as ceramic works, murals and textile art in the lobby and public areas. The design also makes reference to local legends such as those of the Janas and translates them into organic shapes, lighting concepts and textures reminiscent of underwater worlds and coastal landscapes.
Rooms, suites and retreats with a local connection
The resort has 154 rooms and suites with a deliberately calm design and a focus on sand, stone and sea colors. Custom-made ceramic elements, rounded shapes and details inspired by the Nuragic culture create a link to the island's history. In the suites, handmade works of art by local artists complement the interior, while aerial photographs of Sardinian landscapes emphasize the regional connection.
A special highlight is the penthouse with its spacious terrace, private pool, kitchen and bar, which is designed both as an exclusive retreat and for private events.
Culinary, wellness and cultural experiences
In culinary terms, the resort focuses on a modern interpretation of Sardinian cuisine. The TANIT restaurant offers breakfast and dinner with a focus on seafood and regionally inspired dishes in a waterfront location. The offer is complemented by the W Lounge and the WET Deck as meeting points for cocktails, snacks, DJ sets and live music. A separate dessert area, the Dolce Room, is dedicated to innovative patisserie concepts.
The resort also integrates local producers, artisans and performers into the guest experience. Workshops, culinary rituals, artist-in-residence programs and guided nature activities provide authentic insights into the culture and landscape. From the summer season, a spa complements the offer, while the FIT fitness center and activities such as sunrise yoga and walks along the marina round off the wellness concept.
