From the Ionian Sea to the Aegean Sea

The Mar-Bella Collection is setting its sights on new horizons: For the first time, the family-run Greek hotel group is making the leap from the Ionian Sea to the Aegean Sea and taking over the Cayo Exclusive Resort & Spa in Elounda. This brings its portfolio to five properties. Under new management, the resort is poised to reopen on April 22, 2027, as an exclusive retreat on one of Crete’s most beautiful coastlines. Perched high above the small coastal village of Plaka in the northeast of the island, Cayo overlooks the deep-blue sea all the way to Spinalonga.

Spread across 35,600 square meters are 117 rooms, suites, and villas in eleven categories. Every room commands a sea view, and most accommodations also feature a private pool. Ample space, privacy, and the immediate proximity to the water define the ambiance. Five restaurants, three bars, and a spa focus on Mediterranean indulgence and relaxation. Following the acquisition, the Mar-Bella Collection plans to thoughtfully enhance the property while preserving its distinctive character. A special emphasis will be placed on families: plans include dedicated areas for adults and families, as well as a new Kids Club—for quality time together and equally cherished moments of retreat. Until now, the group—with properties such as MarBella, Nido, Avali, and Elix—had been represented exclusively on Corfu and along the Ionian coast of mainland Greece.
