Niedermair Nature Retreat
Young manager Sebastian Kuen carefully transformed the over 600-year-old family business into a modern 4-star boutique hotel last year—without taking away any of its character—and immediately landed in third place on the Connoisseur Circle ranking of South Tyrol’s best nature hotels in its very first year.
A refuge where the view expands and the hustle of daily life fades away
The 32 rooms and suites combine local woods, soft natural colors, and timeless interiors with large panoramic balconies that bring the valley into the room. Clay plaster creates a natural indoor climate in the yoga room, which Sebastian’s sister Barbara uses daily. The Sky Suite is a highlight in the truest sense of the word: with its own whirlpool and two private terraces—one for your first coffee in the morning sun, the other for a sundowner at sunset.
The spa area deliberately embraces minimalism: an adults-only wellness garden, a chemical-free saltwater whirlpool, a sauna area, and an infinity pool that spectacularly hovers above the vineyards and the valley. The hotel’s motto could hardly be summed up more beautifully: better ten minutes of silence than ten thousand square meters of spa.
This is the taste of South Tyrol
What head chef Markus Holzer serves up grows right next door or comes from farmers just around the corner. Seasonal ingredients, clean flavors, no frills—authenticity over presentation. The house wines, which brother Johannes and father Hans-Peter press from their own grapes—Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Blanc, Kerner—are bottled unfiltered and without additives. Just like the whole hotel: unfiltered and unadulterated.
At the Niedermair, sustainability is not just a marketing promise. The property’s own photovoltaic system covers around 70 percent of its energy needs, with a biomass heating plant using regional wood providing the rest. The green façade is designed to blend more and more with its surroundings over the years—and already provides a habitat for insects and birds. GSTC certification is planned for 2026.
If you travel consciously, appreciate nature, and see tranquility as the true luxury, this is the perfect place for you.
