Hotel debut for fashion designer Philipp Plein
16 small rooms and suites and yet "talk of the town": With The Plein Hotel in Milan, German fashion designer Philipp Plein is breaking new ground - and yet remaining true to himself. Because no matter where you look, there's a little more of his iconic "bling bling" everywhere, whether in the guest rooms with mirrored ceilings, at "Crystal Beach", a Miami Vice-style pool lounge on the rooftop, or in "La Jungle De Plein", a vegan restaurant where lots of Barbierosa meets even more flower power. This is not necessarily to everyone's taste - and not for every budget: the "Born to be Unforgettable" pizza prepared by star chef Roberto Conti with lobster, caviar and a good shot of Dom Perignon 2015 costs 1,500 euros on the menu. The "1 kg Philipp's Caviar Fries", at around 8,000 euros, is also quite a nibble. The fries are not red and white, but come with gold leaf, pink Himalayan salt and a good blob of fish eggs on top ...
