Joia El Mirador by Iberostar

Sustainable luxury in Tenerife: Iberostar's green vision for the future

How two luxury hotels bring sustainability to the Canary Islands

Two hotels, one common goal: with the JOIA El Mirador by Iberostar in Costa Adeje and the Iberostar Heritage Grand Mencey in Santa Cruz, the Spanish hotel group shows that luxury travel and sustainability can go hand in hand. Both 5-star hotels exemplify Iberostar's commitment to responsible and regenerative tourism.

At JOIA El Mirador by Iberostar , an adults-only retreat on the sunny south coast, elegant architecture, fine dining and maximum privacy merge with consistently sustainable practices. The hotel has been single-use plastic-free since 2020, uses 100% renewable energy and employs its own 3R team (Reduce - Reuse - Recycle), which actively works to avoid and recycle waste. Iberostar aims to be completely waste-free by 2025 - a goal that is made tangible by innovative AI solutions and the optimization of supply chains.

The historic Iberostar Heritage Grand Mencey , the only five-star hotel in Santa Cruz, combines colonial charm with modern environmental awareness. Here, too, fish and seafood come exclusively from responsible sources, and the hotel's own SPA Sensations and restaurants such as Papa Negra follow the philosophy of the Wave of Change movement, which Iberostar launched in 2017. It stands for sustainable gastronomy, circular economy and the protection of the oceans.
