Six Senses Shaharut opens
From August 5, the brand's new house will welcome guests in the desert
The travel world has been waiting a long time for the opening of Six Senses Shaharut in the Arava Valley. The resort, located in the south of Israel's Negev Desert, offers absolute privacy thanks to its secluded location. This makes it easy for guests to bring their lives back into harmony with nature and its elements. The traditional hospitality of the desert, the rich history of the Nabataeans and uncompromising environmental awareness characterize the new Six Senses Shaharut.
Holiday almost like on the moon
An incredible amount of space - that's the first thing travelers will notice. Social distancing is not something that has to be practiced here, because it happens automatically. The 60 suites and villas are spread across a vast desert landscape. "Six Senses Shaharut is another milestone for the hotel group and once again finds itself in a truly magical place. After months of anticipation in these unprecedented times, I am very excited about this new opening," says General Manager Thomas Fehlbier.
There is a lot that is magical here. It starts with the journey. Guests travel from Tel Aviv, Jerusalem or Petra in neighboring Jordan through the historic landscape and the heart of the Arava Valley. If the three-hour drive is too long for you, you can also arrive by helicopter or fly to the new Eilat Airport and get to the resort from there in 45 minutes. Whichever option you choose, a Six Senses Guest Experience Maker (GEM) will welcome guests on arrival and be available to assist them throughout their stay.
Uncompromisingly sustainable
Although you feel like you're staying at the end of the world, as a guest you want for nothing. The interior design of the accommodation, which blends seamlessly into the desert environment, is a tribute to the ancient Incense Route and the Nabatean community that settled the area over 2,000 years ago. Furniture, furnishings and decoration are made exclusively from natural materials and by local craftsmen.
In general, the connection to the place is emphasized. The food is also inspired by the country's agricultural ingenuity. Very little is imported, most of it comes directly from the hotel's own garden. As in other hotels in the group, the "Eat With Six Senses" philosophy is implemented: the menus are nutritious, healthy and simply delicious. It doesn't matter whether you eat at the poolside barbecue, in the main restaurant or in the mezze and tapas bar.
All other aspects of physical well-being are taken care of by the experienced team at the Six Senses Spa. Guest therapists who specialize in Chinese medicine, osteopathy, energy regeneration and much more regularly enrich the range of treatments on offer. And those who are not swimming in one of the two pools and enjoying the view of the desert from the cool waters of the infinity pool can set off and actively explore the landscape. The offer ranges from camel treks and overnight camping to e-mountain bike tours, hikes, jeep tours and exploratory trips to nearby sights.
