Six Senses debuts in Japan

Oasis in the city center of Kyoto

Japan attracts visitors with its beautiful landscape, friendly people and an exciting contrast between modernity and tradition. One of these traditions is that of bathing culture. For thousands of years, people have been going to the onsen to find their inner center again during a bath. Add to this Zen, meditation and healthy food: it's no wonder that Japan is also an interesting destination for those seeking peace and quiet and wellness travelers. The destination will become even more exciting when the first hotel of the luxury hotel brand, Six Senses Kyoto, opens in 2024.

Urban retreat

The resort opens in a prime location between Buddhist temples, Shinto shrines, palaces, traditional Japanese architecture and beautiful cherry gardens. Life pulsates right on the doorstep of Six Senses Kyoto. Festivals, street food and cultural events lure you into the heart of Japan. And behind the hotel walls? A world of well-being opens up, where winding paths lead through tranquil gardens. Located directly in front of the Myoho-in Temple and the Tokyokuni Jinja Shrine, the luxurious resort is just a few minutes' walk from the colorful Gion district.

The visionary BLINK Design Group was responsible for the design. With its elegant design, it brings the Six Senses brand philosophy to life. Space, privacy and views play an important role. Clear lines, organic tones and attention to detail make the ambience modern, inviting and authentic at the same time. 81 guest rooms are built around an inner courtyard. This allows guests to connect with nature. From the tranquil gardens, guests can access the indoor areas, such as an all-day dining restaurant, a specialty sushi restaurant, the Brew Bar and the cocktail lounge.

Generosity also prevails in the spa. Surrounded by visionary design, guests can enjoy Japanese Zen culture, traditional healing methods and rituals. Families can look forward to a range of child-friendly attractions. And, of course, there will also be the tried-and-tested "Earth Lab", where children can garden, learn all about recycling and get active. In short: "It's a place in the city center where guests can relax and recharge their batteries. See you in 2024," says CEO Neil Jacobs.
