Shangri-La Shougang Park opens

Modern lifestyle meets industrial chic

Shougang Park is a new landmark in Beijing. Once the heart of Beijing's industry, the approximately eight square kilometer area has been transformed into a green oasis where the Big Air competitions of the Winter Games were held. To commemorate the origins of the site, all the buildings that are still intact have been preserved. For example, former cooling towers were turned into sports facilities. A lake, carefully laid out paths and plenty of nature were also added. Shougang Park is now known as a prime example of successful urban revitalization. With the opening of Shangri-La Shougang Park, the new tourist magnet now also has a luxury hotel.

Award-winning architecture

The multi-award-winning designer Piero Lissoni transformed a former power station into an urban living space for the Asian hotel group's new hotel. The hotel extends over a three-part building complex, the original framework of which has been retained. A glass façade, lots of steel and, as a counterpoint, wood characterize the look. Both leisure and business travelers will be surprised by the charming mix of industrial chic, Asian avant-garde and modern lifestyle. Lots of natural light, which falls on the Pièce de Résistance, a large red spiral staircase made of steel, among other things, gives the interior of the Shangri-La Shougang Park a special ambience.

Guests can choose from a total of 283 rooms and suites. The interiors are also reminiscent of Asian culture and are characterized by clean lines and minimalist aesthetics. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer views of Shijingshan Hill and the Yongding River. In the atrium, guests can relax in an evergreen garden before heading to one of the two restaurants. If you fancy local specialties, head to the Shang Market Restaurant. Burgers and craft beer await guests at Shang Brew on the banks of Xiuchi Lake.

The Shangri-La Hotel Shougang Park opens just in time for the brand's 50th anniversary. It is already the sixth branch of the hotel group in Beijing. This brings the total to over 100 hotels and resorts in 22 countries and 76 destinations. Further openings are planned for Australia, Bahrain, China, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia.
