Having only just opened, the new OBERTAUERN [PLACESHOTEL] is already a new hotspot for active people and connoisseurs who appreciate unconventional offers and great design.

Alpine flair meets big city vibes" is the philosophy behind the new Obertauern [PLACES] by Valamar. Opened in mid-December, it is the third hotel of the lifestyle brand belonging to the Croatian Valamar hotel group - and the first of its kind in the Austrian Alps. One of the innovative features of the 120-room and suite hideaway in a dream location not far from the slopes is the so-called "Places Flexi" concept: if you haven't made it to dinner - or simply aren't hungry - you get a day's credit added to your guest account, which can also be redeemed in the lounge or at the rooftop bar throughout your stay.

Hardly less unconventional: the après-ski offer with DJ sets, live music and a 400 m2 entertainment area for all age groups. If you'd rather dive in than dance the night away, the "Places Spa" with its large indoor pool, outdoor sauna and relaxation area by the crackling open fire is the place to be. Our tip: be sure to book one of the signature massages with organic oils based on Alpine and Mediterranean herbs - there's no more relaxing way to end a long day on the boards!

Which brings us to the Obertauern ski area: With more than 100 kilometers of slopes and altitudes between 1,740 and 2,313 m, it is not only one of the best, but also one of the most snow-sure in all of Salzburg. Skiing is possible here from the end of November to the beginning of May. The "Places Insider", helpful hotel guides and mountain enthusiasts who are always on hand with advice, assistance and first-class route recommendations, provide information about the most beautiful descents, rustic huts and other highlights in the region. If you don't feel like heading "to the mountains at the crack of dawn", you are welcome to spend an hour (or two) in your own room or suite instead. Up to 81 m2 in size, they are available in eleven different categories. What they have in common, despite their different furnishings, is their unique look and feel and the eclectic mix of modern design and Alpine elements.
