Peace reigns above the treetops – the Tree Hotel at the new Forest Discovery World
Peace reigns above the treetops – the Tree Hotel of the new WaldEntdeckerWelt
There are places that rise above themselves—in the truest sense of the word. Kopfing in the Innviertel, located not far from the Bavarian border near Passau, is one such place. What began there a little over twenty years ago with the “Baumkronenweg” (Tree Top Trail) has quickly become one of Upper Austria’s most popular destinations. On March 28, the approximately 1,000-meter-long walking trail high above the treetops of the Sauwald will reopen—expanded to include numerous new attractions and a new dining concept. The best reason to stay overnight there? The spectacular tree hotel on the edge of the nature adventure park! Nestled in the heart of the forest, guests stay in a total of 21 treehouses that hover eight to ten meters above the ground. Rooms, apartments, and suite-like forest lofts for two to six people. The centerpiece is the Waldromantik Suite—approximately 64 square meters in size, featuring a leaf-shaped double bed, a freestanding wooden bathtub, an infrared cabin, a rain shower, a minibar, a balcony, and a cozy reading nook. A retreat as unique as the other rooms, apartments, and suite-like forest lofts.
During the day, the newly designed WaldEntdeckerWelt invites guests to discover and explore: The new forest floor trail brings visitors face-to-face with the forest ecosystem; the 40-meter-high forest discovery tower offers a panoramic view of the Sauwald and the Innviertel all the way to the Alpine foothills. An arched trail with 15 stations and interactive learning stations along the paths make nature tangible. And the new Waldküche restaurant treats guests from breakfast through dinner with regional specialties: venison goulash, wild mushroom dumplings, walnut parfait with pickled pears…
By evening at the latest, silence returns. The entire area is then exclusively available to guests of the Baumhotel. Time to listen to the rustling of the leaves, breathe in the scent of resin and earth, and enjoy the starry sky with a glass of wine. In the morning, the Waldküche awaits with a breakfast that tastes just as the Sauwald smells: fresh, down-to-earth, unmistakable.
The Tree Hotel at WaldEntdeckerWelt is no ordinary hotel—it’s the best place to understand why this forest has always been special. And why it will be even more so in the future.
