On a world tour with the Cunard queens
2023: Anniversary cruises with the Queen Victoria and Queen Mary 2
To mark the 100th anniversary of the first world voyage by a Cunard ship, two of the shipping company's luxury vessels will embark on three-and-a-half-month cruises around the globe in January 2023. The courses of Queen Victoria and Queen Mary 2 were inspired by the pioneer of the time, RMS Laconia. For bookings made by November 30, 2021, there is an attractive discount of 15 percent on the premium price.
Hamburg and Southampton as starting points
The Queen Victoria begins her journey in the northern German metropolis and, after a stop in England, sets course for New York. From there, her route continues through the Caribbean and the Panama Canal along the US West Coast. From the exotic island worlds of the Pacific, it heads for Australia and New Zealand. Via stopovers in Asia, the ship finally calls at destinations in the Middle East. Before returning to Hamburg after 106 days, it will call at destinations in the Mediterranean. In total, passengers will visit 26 ports in 20 countries and eleven UNESCO World Heritage Sites on this voyage.
The Queen Mary 2 will depart from Southampton in England on her 103-day voyage around the world. First on the agenda are Lisbon and Heraklion on Crete, before she crosses the Suez Canal and the Arabian Gulf. Colombo (Sri Lanka), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) are just some of the destinations the ship will call at in Asia. It will then sail around Australia to Mauritius, South Africa and the Canary Islands. On April 23, 2023, the Queen Mary 2 will then return to port in Southampton after a landing in the Canary Islands. She will call at 31 ports in 18 countries on this voyage, and the route will allow passengers to visit 18 UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Those who do not have three and a half months to travel around the world on one of the luxury ships can also book the two tours in different shorter segments. The ocean experience promises to be unforgettable in any case, as Cunard's three ocean liners, the Queen Mary 2, the Queen Elizabeth and the Queen Vitoria, are probably the most renowned representatives of their kind. However, there will soon be a new addition to the family. A fourth ship is already under construction.
