NUMAJ: A Hotel Built on Sand

An Oasis in the Desert

In Al-Ula, the legendary rock city in northwestern Saudi Arabia, NUMAJ is opening—a resort that combines the desert experience with contemporary luxury in a manner never before seen. The 56 villas and tents blend harmoniously into the spectacular sandstone landscape and offer unobstructed views of the millennia-old rock formations. The design concept draws on local materials and colors—ochre, terracotta, and natural wood characterize the interiors. In the restaurant, Saudi Arabian and Levantine flavors come together, accompanied by a bar concept that celebrates the rich spice tradition of the Arabian Peninsula. NUMAJ serves as the ideal starting point for expeditions to the ancient city of Hegra—a UNESCO World Heritage Site—to the archaeological library of Jebel Ikmah with its rock engravings, and to the region’s impressive wadi landscape.
