New Regional Director at Ethiopian Airlines

Saba Gembremedhin Kassaye heads Austria and Eastern Europe

Ethiopian Airlines is not only the fastest growing airline in Africa, but also the largest aviation group in Africa. The company has also won many awards and scores points for its high proportion of women, among other things. With Saba Gebremedhin Kassaye, a committed and experienced female employee is now responsible for sales, marketing, operations and sales in the areas of passengers and cargo. Her area of responsibility includes Austria as well as Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Poland, Croatia, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina. With her appointment, the proportion of women in the European regional offices is now an incredible 70 percent.

Bridge builder between continents

Saba Gebremedhin Kassaye has set high goals for the future: "The Eastern European market offers great potential for Ethiopian Airlines. We can establish ourselves here as a modern airline that connects Europe and Africa," she says. But what constitutes a "modern airline" anyway? "A modern airline also bears responsibility for cooperation in the world. Ethiopian Airlines is a 'bridge builder' between Europe and Africa," says the new Regional Director. She will increase the current four flights per week back to the pre-corona level of one flight per day and increase cargo capacities: "The world should experience the beauty, culture and best things about Africa. This also includes the particularly warm Ethiopian hospitality that Ethiopian Airlines passengers can already experience on board."

The young woman sees herself not only as a representative of her continent, but also as a role model for other women in Ethiopia. It is important to her that young African women see from her example what is possible if you are ambitious and make your contribution to the development of your country's society. Ethiopian Airlines has been making its contribution for 70 years now. Since then, the airline has held the largest share of the pan-African passenger and cargo network and operates one of the youngest and most modern fleets in the world. It flies to more than 119 international passenger and cargo destinations on five continents. It has already been honored twice with the SKYTRAX World Airline Award for "Best Airline Staff".
