New fleet member for Hapag-Lloyd Cruises

HANSEATIC spirit was christened off the high seas island of Helgoland

Hapag-Lloyd Cruises' newest fleet member, the HANSEATIC spirit, was christened off the high seas island of Helgoland on August 24, 2021. The symbolic godmother? None other than the gray seal "Nemi". As a worthy representative, Ulrike Meinfelder, veterinarian at the Friedrichskoog seal sanctuary, smashed the champagne bottle on the bow of the third ship in Hapag-Lloyd Cruises' new expedition class.

Captain Axel Engeldrum and his crew set sail from Hamburg today (August 26) for the maiden voyage of the HANSEATIC spirit. The nine-day luxury voyage will take the 139-metre-long and 22-metre-wide adults-only ship back to Hamburg via Sweden and Denmark. Service quality at 5-star level, state-of-the-art environmental technologies and the complete renunciation of heavy fuel oil - the HANSEATIC spirit sails exclusively with the low-emission fuel marine gas oil 0.1 percent. - characterize the newest member of the fleet. Also worthy of praise: the ships in the new expedition class are equipped with an SCR catalytic converter, which reduces nitrogen oxide emissions by almost 95 percent. And a shore power connection.
