More (than) art at Seefels Castle

The impressive fusion of architecture, art & design

Schloss Seefels, probably the most beautiful place on Lake Wörthersee, is also one of the most beautiful buildings in Wörthersee architecture. What presents itself harmoniously, youthfully and romantically on the outside is rich in contrast, bold and avant-garde on the inside: a total work of art consisting of pictures and design by a who's who of contemporary artists and designers.

A guest at the HOseum
At Seefels Castle, guests reside in the 5-star superior hotel and are located directly in the museum. This unique combination makes the boutique hotel of the eponymous group under the management of hotelier Helena Ramsbacher the HOseum.

More than 200 works of art
Over 200 paintings from the Haselsteiner family's private collection can be seen in the lobby, restaurants, castle bar, rooms and suites. Inspired by Karel Appel, Georg Baselitz and Maria Lassnig in the lobby, we move on to the rooms. And no two are alike.

67 times art in art
Thirteen color concepts with designs ranging from geometric to floral to faunistic and custom-made furniture matched to the spatial structures give the rooms and suites their character; this is enhanced by the art to create a character of its own. Even if art is self-sufficient, here it is harmoniously integrated into a total work of art that does only one thing: amaze.

A sea of flowers
It doesn't just bloom on fabrics and pictures, it also blooms on tiles. In the spa, thousands of Bisazza mosaics display a colorful bloom that allows the eye to wander from the sea of flowers to the turquoise-green Wörthersee. The Laconium is monochrome so that the eyes can rest: everything shines in gold. The Urban Jungle Spa Bar is then "full of colors" again.

Art is porn with colors
Billi Thanner's art of the same name can be seen in the Pink Birkin Salon. The name says it all: pink is the leading color of the interior in the gourmet restaurant, which has been awarded four Falstaff forks and three Gault & Millau toques, and Birkin is the namesake of the artworks by Attila Adorján, who photorealistically depicted the Hermès bag named after Jane Birkin.

More than photorealistic
Every view and place in the castle is an Insta-spot and the ladder to heaven by artist Billi Thanner, which rises into the sky with its 21 rungs in color-changing neon light, is quite real.

"What a heavenly sensation it is to follow art", Johann Wolfgang von Goethe might have said if he had been a guest at Seefels - from € 480 per day in a double room.
