The Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group is delighted to announce plans for a new luxury hotel in the center of Rome, scheduled to open in 2026. This exceptional project will be the Group's fifth property in Italy and will complement the existing locations in Milan and Lake Como, as well as the recently announced hotels in Cortina and Porto Cervo. The project is being implemented in collaboration with Merope Asset Management, a leading Italian real estate investor and developer.
The new Mandarin Oriental, Rome will be housed in ten 19th century villas, originally built as residences for wealthy Romans and surrounded by lush gardens. This unique property will allow guests and visitors to stay in a quiet, private neighborhood just steps away from the city's major attractions and archaeological sites.
The hotel comprises 108 guest rooms and suites with views of the gardens or the city. Many of the suites have private gardens and terraces, creating a tranquil retreat in the middle of the city. The interiors are designed by award-winning designers Gilles & Boissier, known for their elegant and modern designs (including Mandarin Oriental, Marrakech and Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid). The restaurants are being designed by DimoreStudio, while Parc Nouveau is responsible for the landscaping.
There are six different restaurants and bars on the property, including Al Fresco Dining and a stand-alone dining concept in one of the villas. The Mandarin Bar on the spacious roof terrace offers a breathtaking view over Rome and is sure to become a popular meeting place.
The Spa at Mandarin Oriental offers a wide range of award-winning spa experiences in a tranquil setting. A state-of-the-art gym and spacious indoor and outdoor pools set in the beautiful gardens are available for fitness enthusiasts. The spa facilities also include six treatment rooms, a VIP treatment suite, thermal rooms and a private sun deck.
The hotel is located between Via Piemonte and Via Sallustiana in the Gardens of Sallust, a historic Roman archaeological site that offers visitors a glimpse into the splendor of the Roman past. There are numerous cultural sights in the immediate vicinity, as well as first-class shopping and excursion options such as Via Veneto, the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, the Roman Forum and Piazza Navona.
