Mandarin Oriental Muscat

Exceptional hospitality in the heart of Oman

Mandarin Oriental, Muscat opened its doors on June 3, 2024, marking the Group's debut in the Omani Kingdom. The distinctive architectural design of this urban resort and residences offers fantastic views of the Arabian Sea. The location in the heart of Shatti Al-Qurum, a prestigious neighborhood, is perfect for exploring the fascinating ancient treasures and vibrant culture of Muscat. The breathtaking backdrop of the majestic Hajar Mountains enhances the hotel's warm charm. Mandarin Oriental's legendary service, combined with unique gastronomic concepts, a world-class spa and authentic Omani-inspired experiences, brings a new level of exceptional hospitality to Oman.

The hotel's architecture was designed by renowned French interior designer Xavier Cartron and is inspired by the rich and diverse culture of Oman. As you enter the hotel lobby through the magnificent Omani wooden doors, history comes alive as the influences of different regions and cultures blend seamlessly. At the heart of the lobby are three fountains that pay homage to the country's rich heritage and symbolize the diverse influences of the Middle East, Africa and Asia that have shaped Oman's unique culture. In the lobby of the hotel, colorful chandeliers with crystal lanterns illuminate the lobby from all sides. The breathtaking view of the sea, framed by exotic coconut and palm trees, invites guests to explore the wonders of Muscat.

The natural beauty of Oman inspires the design of the 103 rooms and 47 suites, which use natural materials from the region, including Desert Rose marble and ash wood. Each handcrafted piece inspires guests to discover the treasures of the land. The bed backs are inspired by the 'kuma', the traditional Omani hat, while authentic motifs and fabrics pay homage to traditional hand-woven patterns. The brass lanterns are inspired by the iconic "Khanjar", the Omani daggers that represent the craftsmanship of the region. The Residences at Mandarin Oriental comprises 156 private residences offering unparalleled comfort and service on the waterfront.

The five distinct restaurants and lounge offer a wide selection of international cuisine with Mandarin Oriental's renowned culinary excellence under the direction of Chef Raymond Rjaily, formerly of Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta. The signature restaurant Essenza invites guests to travel through the Italian coastal regions and serves traditional recipes passed down through generations. The Mandarin Cake Shop offers a selection of pastries and cakes as well as a range of Viennoiseries, breads and savory pastries, paired with a variation of specialty teas and coffees. The team is led by head pastry chef Stephane Tranchet, who has already worked with the famous Michelin-starred chefs Pierre Gagnaire and Alain Ducasse. Most recently, he worked at the Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo, where he made a name for himself with his signature "cloud cake".
