Luxury and nature at the foot of the Matterhorn

Design Hotel Matterhorn FOCUS, Zermatt - Switzerland

The golden rays of the morning sun travel across the famous north-east face of the Matterhorn and climb to the summit of the 4,478-metre-high landmark of an entire nation. A view that has fascinated and inspired generations of travelers, but rarely has it been so spectacularly staged as at the Design Hotel Matterhorn FOCUS, at the foot of the valley station to the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise.

Floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows transform the 30 individually designed suites and rooms into a showcase of the Valais mountains and create the challenging symbiosis of nature and design for which the artist and architect Heinz Julen is responsible. No designer has shaped Zermatt's architectural scene as much as the genius Heinz Julen, who not only transforms hotels and chalets into alpine works of art, but also designs furniture and accessories that can be admired throughout the Matterhorn FOCUS.

Chandeliers framed in glass boxes with strings of pearls meet smoothly polished wooden tables to create an atmospheric, modern breakfast room. Photographs and accessories from the alpine world hang everywhere in the lounge, adding a certain coziness and inviting guests to linger by the crackling open fire. Tea and snacks are served here in the afternoon
are served here in the afternoon, while in the evening a Vieil Apricot at the casual hotel bar ushers in a good night's sleep.

Everything is integrated into the overall concept, so that the view from the lounge does not accidentally fall on the blue oasis of the indoor pool, which continues seamlessly into the heated outdoor Jacuzzi.

While guests sunbathe on the slope of a blooming alpine meadow in summer, tired muscles relax in the sauna, steam bath or in the jets of the whirlpool in winter, bringing an eventful day's skiing to a fitting end. Nowhere is closer to the skiing and hiking paradise of Zermatt than at the Matterhorn FOCUS, which is located directly at the "Matterhorn glacier paradise" valley station and thus offers a real ski-in/ski-out experience in winter. Simply pick up your skis and take the highest cable car in Europe up to the Klein Matterhorn. Afterwards, 360 kilometers of perfectly groomed slopes, rustic huts and unforgettable viewpoints in the international ski resort of Zermatt - Cervinia (IT) are literally at your feet.

But in summer too, a hiking and mountain sports paradise of superlatives beckons, which can increasingly be explored by mountain bike or e-bike. A total of 38 four-thousand-metre peaks are available around Zermatt and experienced mountain guides are happy to accompany professionals up the Matterhorn or ambitious beginners up the much easier Breithorn. If you don't want to overtax your mountain boots, you can also book a helicopter experience to get closer to the mountain of mountains than would be possible from the Hotel Matterhorn FOCUS.

No matter how and where you experience this adventure and adventure Eldorado around the Matterhorn, there's one hotspot you won't want to miss in your Instagram feed in future: The morning panoramic view of the snow-covered peaks of the Valais mountains from your hotel room.
