Luxury on the rocks

Silver Endeavour

The unexpected often happens: following the insolvency of Crystal Cruises, the American luxury cruise line Silversea managed to buy up its ex-competitor's latest expedition ship in July 2022 and integrate it into its own fleet at short notice as Silver Endeavour. Specially designed for the polar regions and equipped with one of the highest ice classes, the ship will set course for Antarctica this November with a maximum of 200 guests and the same number of crew members. Twelve five- to ten-day voyages will then be on the program.

The special thing about it:
The start and finish is usually on Kings George Island, an Antarctic island that is served by the Silversea jet. This eliminates the need to travel through the Drake Passage, which is known for its capricious weather - which should not only please passengers who are not quite so seaworthy, but also shortens the arrival and departure time enormously. Incidentally, the suites, which are up to 70 m2 in size and all have their own balcony and some even have panoramic bathrooms with a view from the bathtub into the eternal ice, are also a reason to be happy.
