LUX* Grand Baie
New flagship opens in Mauritius
For exactly 10 years, the Singapore-based hotel brand LUX* has been revolutionizing the way luxury travellers go on vacation. Just in time for its tenth anniversary, the brand's newest hotel opened on December 1. Located on the picturesque lagoon of the same name in Mauritius, the LUX* Grand Baie heralded the latest chapter in the success story. The new hotel is the first of a new generation in boutique style. Guests can also look forward to innovative dining concepts, modern fitness and wellness facilities and authentic experiences.
Reference to the dream island
The north of Mauritius is known for its bars, beach cafés, thriving arts and crafts and a special vibe. No wonder Jean-François Adam, an architect from Mauritius, incorporated this essence of the island into his design. He created an ensemble reminiscent of the sailboats of his childhood. Thanks to generous room plans and spacious open areas, the boundaries between nature and the interior spaces merge. The result is a feeling of almost boundless harmony. British design icon Kelly Hoppen was responsible for the interior design. It was important to her to subtly transfer the beauty of the land and the Indian Ocean into the interiors using natural textures and neutral tones.
In total, 86 LUX* Junior Suites, 20 LUX* Pool Residences, 2 LUX* Pool Penthouses, 7 LUX* Pool Villas and the LUX* Grand Beach Pool Villa were created. Some of the accommodations have direct beach access, a private pool and private butler service. Each suite, residence and penthouse has been furnished with great attention to detail. Luxury, comfort and sophistication form a special symbiosis here.
Pampering moments in paradise
Culinary highlights include the Beach Rouge with its well-known characteristic beach club concept right on the water, the fine dining restaurant Ai KISU with its Asian cuisine and the European-inspired Maison LUX*. The latter serves delicious pastries, homemade gelato and organic coffee from its own production. In the spacious rooftop restaurant Bisou, guests can enjoy a spectacular panoramic view and the tranquillity of an adults-only area. The area along the 30-metre-long infinity pool, where floating tapas are served among other things, turns from a cosy relaxation zone into a lounge bar in the evening, where DJs from all over the world perform their best sets.
Fitness and well-being are top priorities at the LUX* ME Spa & Fitness. Spread over four floors, the wellness facilities include a range of thermal experiences, saunas, a Kneipp circuit, a Turkish hammam and spacious treatment rooms offering excellent treatments. A wide range of weekly fitness and wellness classes complete the offer. In addition to strength and functional training, the program includes HIIT, cycling, soft-sand running and yoga. The fully equipped fitness center with its modern equipment is complemented by an outdoor area on the roof. Guests can train there on two 30-meter running tracks and a MyBeast Functional Fitness Frame.
The PLAY program is just the thing for younger guests. Here, children up to the age of 12 can experience a variety of different activities that promote individuality, self-discovery and development.
